Too often inquiry-based learning is misconstrued or misunderstood. There are many false dichotomies that arise. Perhaps you’ve heard someone say that inquiry-based learning is just "chaos in the classroom"? Or that it's simply "letting kids do whatever they want"?
The truth? It’s actually one of the most thoughtful, carefully crafted approaches an educator can take.
However, the above truth applies to true inquiry-based learning and teaching—i.e. that which is designed with intention and integrity.
