Three Key Trends for Professional Learning

This past year has taught us many things. What has it taught you when it comes to professional learning?I was honored to be asked to contribute to the May 2021 issue of Global Education Insights from SchoolRubric. Not only was I honored because it's a wonderful organization, but also because I was asked by one of the greatest learning leaders I've ever had the gift of working with: Dr. Rob Thornell. Many years ago, when I was serving as a middle school teacher in Texas, Rob was my principal. It was truly a blessing to have such a stellar example of a leader so early in my career. Rob walks the walk of leading with integrity and authenticity. Fast forward to the present, and Rob now serves as the Director of Organizational and School Leadership for the SchoolRubric community (not to mention Chief Executive Director of Learning & Teaching in Lewisville ISD).This latest issue of Global Education Insights posed one essential question for all contributors:

Professional learning for educators has looked dramatically different in the past year. As we move towards a time that traditionally has been used for professional development, what trends, needs, or advice would you share based on your personal experiences?

How would you answer? I'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments! In the meantime, check out my response along with several other wonderful contributions from around the world here.
